The Government of Canada has announced an additional $2 billion investment over five years through Team Canada Strong to expand skilled trades training and create more pathways to Red Seal certification. This funding will increase access to pre-apprenticeship and technical training, address barriers that delay training and certification, eliminate apprenticeship and Red Seal training waitlists, and improve access to training in high-demand trades. Building on the $6 billion already committed under Team Canada Strong, this investment supports the goal of recruiting, training, and hiring 80,000 to 100,000 new Red Seal trades workers over the next five years to help build more homes, strengthen infrastructure, enhance Canada’s defence capabilities, and support a stronger workforce and economy.
